  • WARMING CENTER

    Warming Center provides a safe place for anyone seeking warmth from the cold.

    Warming center is inside St. Michael's Catholic Church. The center is open from Dec. 1 to March 31 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., people are asked to step out so the staff can clean, and then people can check back in if they need to stay overnight.

    COOLING CENTER

    Cooling Center is open when the heat index is 85 degrees or more. Bottled water and snacks are provided to guests.

  • LAUNDRY ROOM

    The Laundry Room is open on Monday through Friday by appointment only. Guests are eligible for 2 laundry appointments per month, 2 loads per appointment, or families of 5 or more may use two time slots. (4 loads).

    SHOWER ROOM

    Showers are scheduled on Monday and Tuesday mornings by appointment only. Appointments may be scheduled at the Community Closet Check-in Desk.

  • Rental Assistance

    The Flint Housing Commission administers approximately 700 Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers. These Vouchers allow a participant to live in a privately owned rental unit with the Flint Housing Commission subsidizing their rent for the difference between 30% of their income and the monthly rent charged.

  • Public Housing is a subsidized housing program funded through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) which allows seniors, disabled persons and families to live independently in affordable housing.

    The Flint Housing Commission uses income limits developed by HUD, which lower income limits are at 80% and very low income limits are at 50% of the median income for the area. Rent is based on 30% of all income received, which some income may be excluded.

    The Public Housing Program offers a variety of Resident Services and we aim to assist and encourage families and residents to become self-sufficient.

  • The Legacy Center Clubhouse is a working community of men and women with mental illness dedicated to recovery. Members come to Fountain House to contribute their talents, learn new skills, access opportunities and forge new friendships.

    This program provides:

    - Opportunities for members to live, work, and learn while contributing their talents through a community of mutual support

    - Assistance finding and keeping jobs

    - Assistance acquiring affordable housing

    - Health and wellness programming

    - A supported education program which offers support for members to continue with or return to school

    - Home and community based services for members with Medicaid Managed Care

    - Care management to create and coordinate a personalized plan of care that includes your medical, behavioral, and social needs

    By working together, members regain confidence, make friends, learn new skills, and make progress towards achieving their employment and educational goals. This opportunity to be a part of a successful working community is restorative and builds dignity and self-esteem.

  • Offers quality transitional housing for homeless youth from 17 to 21 years of age. This program can go up to 21 months and helps homeless youth get on their feet and learn life skills. The program is available for those who are looking to get on their feet, need a place to stay, or to simply graduate school.

    Residents will have access to:

    - Daily life skills training

    - Financial assistance with college tuition

    - Financial education

    Residents are required to be employed and attending a school during the duration of their stay. Residents are also expected and required to save sixty percent of their income during their placement in this program.

  • Offer shelter for 10 to 17 year olds who need a safe, legal place to stay. The professional staff is always ready to work with youth and parents to help improve the lines of communication and develop healthy family relationships. The REACH facility is a large, comfortable home which offers both security and structure. Residents have many opportunities for quiet time, study, recreation, and counseling.

    Residents may also access:

    - Nutritional meals

    - Crisis intervention

    Young people may stay at the REACH home for up to 21 days, but the usual stay is about a week. Our shelter is open 24 hours a day, to offer immediate assistance to young people and their families.

  • The Nursing Facility Transition Program (NFT) provides transition assistance for those individuals residing in a nursing home who wish to return to community living.

    Eligibility
